چکیده
Of various techniques of pteryium surgeries to prevent recurrence, conjunctival limbal auto graft has been the most successful adjuvant since studies have shown role stem cell deficiency (LSCD) as pathology pterygium. The common method auto-graft fixation post pterygium excision is suturing; with drawbacks prolonged operating time and postoperative discomfort. Replacing sutures tissue adhesives may shorten time, improve comfort; however, major concern commercial fibrin glue cost potential risk transmission infection. To study, 1. efficacy complications suture free conjunctival-limbal for management pterygia, 2. outcome by two different qualified surgeons Prospective, interventional case study 108 consecutive cases pterygia that had auto-grafting without using or sutures. operated eye patched a day followed up on 1, 3 7, 6 weeks months; watched hemorrhage beneath graft, retraction, chemosis, recurrence any other complication. mean age patients was 40.7 years (range, 25 – 68 years) female preponderance (60.2%) nasal in 65.7 %. Not single dislodged none follow period 9-20 months. Graft retraction occurred 7 (6.5%) one patient sub-graft which lasted nine days. 76.9% no discomfort even immediate post-operative period. results were comparable among both surgeons. I enjoyed reading the article by Malik et al titled ‘Efficacy of sutureless and glue-free limbal conjunctival auto-graft for primary pterygium surgery’ published in the Nepalese Journal of Ophthalmology (Malik et al, 2012). The authors highlighted an important technique of primary pterygium surgery without application of sutures or bio-fibrin glue. This is, of course, a very challenging procedu...

PURPOSE To assess the rate of recurrence and complications after primary pterygium removal with conjunctival autograft using fibrin tissue adhesive. Secondarily, to compare these results with a retrospective series that underwent the same surgery using sutures. METHODS A hundred and six eyes of 100 patients who underwent surgery with fibrin glue were prospectively studied, while 58 eyes of 51...
